Key Messages

In the context of New Media today we do not have the luxury of masses of time and space in which to deliver important messages that people need to receive. Much of what is communicated is either very trivial with the emphasis on the relationship, or very brief, not allowing for much detail or depth.

This being so, it is all the more important that we have a clear understanding of what we need to communicate.

We might start out by asking What are the most important statements that we need to make? This raises the question of who we are engaging in conversation. Different people need to hear different things. It partly depends on who they are, what they know already, what is on their minds – and a lot of other things.

This raises the basic question, too, on how we determine what the key messages are. What are the guiding criteria for making this determination?
